ABOUT Building in Canada
Canada is recognized for being one of the best places to live in the world and is known for having a low poverty rate, compared to the rest of the world. But people are unaware of the fact that there are still many families who don’t have a safe or decent place to live. Our mission is to make sure low-income families in Canada are living in affordable homes that meet the standard for living.
WHY GO ON A TRIP TO HELP FAMILIES IN CANADA?
By going on a Canada trip you’re ensuring that Canadians have a safe and respectable place to live. You’ll gain a better understanding of the need for affordable housing and the life-changing impact it has on families. Plus, you’ll establish lasting relationships with other like-minded volunteers as you work together to strengthen a community.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT ON A CANADA TRIP?
A Canada trip lets you meet the family you’re helping and see the difference you’re making in their lives firsthand. You’ll work, laugh and make new friends with people who share in the vision that “there’s no place like home” and everyone should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live.
Trip costs include local transportation, food, accommodations, travel medical insurance and a donation to the host community’s Habitat program. Airfare, cancellation and baggage insurance are not included in the cost. Charitable donation receipts will be issued for eligible trip contributions.
HOW CAN YOU FUNDRAISE?
Fundraising is a great way to share your excitement about helping a family build their home and with it, a better life. To help you get started, Habitat for Humanity provides easy-to-use online tools for building a personal fundraising page. Your page will help promote your fundraiser and keep family, friends and any other visitors to your page updated on your progress. Donors will receive a tax receipt.
