July 9 – 23, 2017
Help eliminate poverty and provide decent, affordable housing to families in need in Zambia. Meet new and exciting people and join them in this mission. Experience the joy of sharing by working with your team of travelers and the people of Zambia as we provide ‘sweat equity’ in the construction of a new home. Experience the ‘real Africa’ and marvel at the beauty of this beautiful country and its people.
Zambia is a southeastern African nation with five distinct topographical regions: the central highlands; the western plains, swamps and semiarid deserts; the Rift Valley of the Zambezi Lowlands; the Muchinga Uplands; and the swamps and lakes of the northeast. Habitat for Humanity Zambia was formed in 1985 and is building houses of cement blocks, stone foundations and cement tile roofs. This team will be building in the Lusaka region.

What Will It Cost?
|This cost for this 15 day opportunity to build in Zambia is approximately
$2930 + round-trip airfare + $ 1000.00 R&R
The trip cost includes: lodging, food, ground transportation, traveler’s medical insurance, orientation materials, and a donation to HFH Zambia and the Global Village program. Participants will need to arrange and pay for air transportation from their point of departure to Lusaka, Zambia. This arrangement should be done in consultation with the team leader.
*Habitat for Humanity Canada will issue a charitable donation tax receipt for the trip cost and the eligible airfare – these will be 2 separate receipts. The costs for R&R portion of the trip are not eligible for a tax receipt and this money must not be sent to HFH Canada. Your team leader will let you know how to pay this.
There are additional travel costs such as passport, visa and immunizations which the team leader will discuss with you. These costs are not tax deductible.
Meet the Team Leader: Tammy Carter
I am thrilled to be given this opportunity to lead this team to Zambia! I love meeting new people and leading teams of volunteers who believe that they can pay their good fortune forward. Members of this team must have a strong sense of humour, a sense of adventure, the ability to go with the flow and a willingness to immerse themselves into the local ways and culture.
I am a respiratory therapist in the ICU. As a fitness enthusiast, I have a love of lifting heavy things and have been known to grace the stage as a physique competitor. My previous GV experience includes Nepal, Ethiopia, Malaysia, Philippines, Armenia, Portugal and New Zealand. I promise you will be in good hands with me and the affiliate in Zambia.
