Experience the wonderful country that is Bolivia!
Sept 15 – 23, 2018
No previous construction skills or experience are required-just a desire to learn, be flexible, share tasks and enjoy making friends and acquaintances from different cultures as well as your own. If you are committed, flexible and enthusiastic, and you are interested in making a difference in the lives of others, you will want to join this team!
Bolivia has a population of about 11 million people and according to the government, the deficit of housing is about 43.8% across the country and sets a target to build approximately 25,000 homes per year. However, as population growth is increasingly constant, this deficit continues to exist beyond the construction effort.
Cochabamba is a city & municipality in central Bolivia, in a valley in the Andes mountain range. It is the capital of the Cochabamba Department and is the fourth largest city in Bolivia. This build will be part of a program called “Waiting for you at home” which modifies housing for families with medical needs.

What will it cost?
|The cost for this opportunity to build in Bolivia will cost:
$2,140 + round-trip airfare + approx $300 for R&R*
The trip cost includes: lodging, food, ground transportation, traveler’s medical insurance, orientation materials, and a donation to HFH Bolivia and the Global Village program. Participants will need to arrange and pay for air transportation from their point of departure to Cochabamba, Bolivia. This arrangement should be done in consultation with the team leader.
*Habitat for Humanity Canada will issue a charitable donation tax receipt for the trip cost and the eligible airfare – these will be 2 separate receipts. The costs for R&R portion of the trip are not eligible for a tax receipt and this money must not be sent to HFH Canada. Your team leader will let you know how to pay this.
There are additional travel costs such as passport, visa and immunizations which the team leader will discuss with you. These costs are not tax deductible.
Your team leaders will be Beth Jean Evans and Craig Shreve. Between the two of us, we have done 14 habitat builds, in Cambodia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Honduras, Guatemala, Chile, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Paraguay. We had each lead two teams separately prior to teaming up for builds the last two years. We learn something new on every trip, and we know that Bolivia will be no exception. Beth is excited to return to Bolivia, where she lived for 4 months while doing research, and Craig is looking forward to seeing Bolivia for the first time. We’re hoping you join us!
