Habitat Honduras - Lake Yojoa

Take part in this build project to provide families in Santa Cruz de Yojoa a 'hand up' with a safe, secure home

March 2-10, 2019

This trip will work alongside a local family to help construct a new home in Santa Cruz de Yojoa. In this region, Habitat for Humanity Honduras are supporting this community with 12 news cinder block houses as well as new water system projects.

Habitat for Humanity Honduras

The projects of Habitat Honduras are widespread and exist throughout the country. With a population of about 8.5 million people, Honduras is one of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere. Many rural areas do not receive services such as access to clean water. In these regions, many survive from subsistence agriculture and extra income earned during coffee picking season. Habitat for Humanity Honduras believes in focusing on the existing strengths of a community, long-term advocacy efforts, and building on a ‘sustainable livelihoods framework’ which is used to identify and support what a community possesses in various forms of capital (human, natural, financial, physical and social) rather than concentrating on what they do not possess. This project of 12 Houses are going to be made of of adobe bricks, the project includes a community centre and also the farmers are going to be produce in the available land as a way of income

I have done builds in El Salvador, Sri Lanka, Argentina, Dominican Republic, and Guatemala. Since my first build I’ve been hooked on Global Village builds because I love travelling with a purpose, and I always feel that I gain way more than I give.
