Bago- Myanmar

December 1 - 12, 2018

By joining this trip, you will help provide families with a decent home, bigger opportunities, and a better chance at life. Be a part of this global effort, be a part of the force behind solving poverty housing. No experience is required, just an open & loving heart and willingness to help.

Why should I go to Myanmar?

Bordered by Bangladesh, Thailand, China, and the Andaman Sea. The build site in Bago is located in the southern region of Myanmar approximately 80 kilometers North East of the Yangon.

Myanmar is among the poorest countries in Asia with one in four people living below the national poverty line. Most of the poor live in rural areas which also tend to be affected by civil conflict or natural disasters such as forest fires, landslides, floods and storm surges. 33% of the population lives below the poverty line.

Our team will be supporting our host’s goal to complete 50 homes during 2018. During the month of December, temperatures in Bago on average are in the range of 30C. Expect moderate humidity and tropical rainfall. Bago is known for its many Buddhist Temples and Monuments

Tell me about Habitat for Humanity Myanmar

Habitat for Humanity has been providing volunteer support since 2014 and has helped provide better shelter for over 3,500 home owners in addition to improving water and sanitation facilities and providing disaster response during the devastating Cyclone Nargis in 2008.

What will it cost?

The cost for this 12 day opportunity to build in Myanmar is approximately

Team members will be required to pay an electronic Visa processing fee of approximately $50USD.

The trip cost covers: lodging, food, ground transportation, traveller’s medical insurance, orientation materials, and a donation to Habitat Myanmar and the Global Village Canada program.  Participants will need to arrange and pay for round-trip air transportation from their point of departure to Yangon, Myanmar. Flight arrangements must be made in consultation with the team leader.

*Habitat for Humanity Canada will issue a charitable donation tax receipt for the trip cost and the eligible airfare – these will be 2 separate receipts. The costs for R&R portion of the trip are not eligible for a tax receipt and this money must not be sent to HFH Canada. Your team leader will let you know how to pay this.
