Habitat for Humanity Indonesia

Habitat for Humanity Indonesia was established on May 1, 1997 and currently has 4 branch offices, namely Batam, Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Surabaya. Its largest program was rebuilding after the December 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami with more than 8,000 families helped. Since its establishment until the end of December 2017, Habitat for Humanity Indonesia has assisted more than 52,912 families, with the construction of new homes, renovation of old houses, provision of clean water and public toilets, and the construction of community facilities. Through multi-stakeholder partnerships, the Yogyakarta branch focuses on construction of decent and affordable housing with special attention given to the local culture in the design of housing solutions. Team Leader

Barb Bjarneson: I’m very excited to be leading a team to Indonesia. This is my 29th GV build and 19th as a team leader. It is quite obvious that we are hooked and believe you will be too. I can’t wait to meet our team in Yogyakarta Indonesia.

Dave Bjarneson: We have volunteered with Habitat since 1997 & have visited many incredible places through the GV program. The rewards of these trips are found in personal growth, experiencing new cultures and making new friends. I am looking forward to another shared experience during my 25th GV build.
