Habitat for Humanity Indonesia

Habitat for Humanity Indonesia was established on May 1, 1997 and currently has 4 branch offices, namely Batam, Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Surabaya. Its largest program was rebuilding after the December 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami with more than 8,000 families helped. Since its establishment until the end of December 2017, Habitat for Humanity Indonesia has assisted more than 52,912 families, with the construction of new homes, renovation of old houses, provision of clean water and public toilets, and the construction of community facilities. Through multi-stakeholder partnerships, the Yogyakarta branch focuses on construction of decent and affordable housing with special attention given to the local culture in the design of housing solutions. The village of Selopamioro is located 45 minutes south of Yogyakarta and has a population of 14,387 with a majority living in poverty. Team Leader

My name is Neetash Patel, this will be my 8th build with Global Village and I am excited for you to join me in this experience.

Habitat for Humanity has been a tremendous connection for me, combining & sharing my love for travel, philanthropy & food. There is nothing more special than seeing the results of your time, resources and effort; and these builds offer just that.

Global Village builds represent an opportunity to get off the normal tourist path and connect with communities through building a house. In addition to working with a family to improve their life we support the local economy, and actively help to shape the globe.

I have been fortunate to work my way around the world, and have called Calgary home since 2002. I am firm believer in living life and usually pretty passionate about all things. I am sports & rehab chiropractor, specializing in Active Release and run a multi-disciplinary team in my own health care clinic. Firm believer of "10 fingers, 10 pies", I enjoy keeping busy with various sports (triathlon, endurance events etc), confirmed bibliophile, volunteer quite a lot, cooking (dare I say kitchen guru?), friends, family (my world comes to a grinding halt when my 7 nieces and nephews come to town)!  Looking forward to meeting you in Indonesia this May.
