Habitat Paraguay
April 18th - 26th 2020
Volunteer on a Global Village build in Paraguay and help empower families and communities through decent and safe housing.
Habitat for Humanity Paraguay
Landlocked Paraguay is at the heart of South America, surrounded by Argentina, Bolivia and Brazil. Around a quarter of Paraguayans live below the national poverty. Most of the population is of mixed Spanish and Guarani descent and speak the indigenous language Guarani as well as Spanish.
In 1998 Habitat for Humanity Paraguay was officially established in the capital city of Asunción. The first 3 houses were completed in 1999.
Up to date more than 8,000 families - over 40,000 Paraguayans - have partnered with Habitat for Humanity Paraguay to improve their living conditions, to plant their own seeds, and to create new beginnings. More than 5,000 national and international volunteers have supported the work of Habitat Paraguay
Projects in Paraguay
The project ‘For the Future of our Children’ seeks to improve communities by addressing housing needs of families living in inadequate conditions. A goal of this project is to support the development of children through safe, healthy and durable houses.
Habitat Paraguay offers families the option to build a complete home or a smaller progressive home and then build additions when they are financially able.

Team Leader: Laura Wilson
Hello my name is Laura Wilson. I have been volunteering as a team leader with Habitat for over 13 years now. I have lost track of how many builds I’ve done but it is over 15. I have led a few builds to Latin America. I am a palliative care Nurse . I am married with three grandchildren. I love fitness, yoga, running, cross fit, hiking and camping are fun for me. I am very committed and passionate about my volunteer work with Habitat and I cannot imagine my life without being involved in this work.
